“Wairarapa Wool Weekend is a fibrecraft event designed to promote the Wairarapa region and the New Zealand wool industry while acknowledging te ao Māori and developing a whanaungatanga, or community, of crafters. Wairarapa Wool Weekend will be held once every two years and each muster (gathering) will be based in a different Wairarapa town to allow participants to discover and explore the greater Wairarapa region. To add an international flavour we will also be focusing on countries (or parts of the world) where people have emigrated to New Zealand from and celebrating the craft and culture they have brought with them. In support of this there will be a guest speaker and/or workshop tutor who will share their love and knowledge of the unique craft history and identity of the area. Activities will include fibrecraft workshops, public talks, a traders hall, tree planting ceremony, lights up crafting, craft café evenings, specialist tasting sessions and a gala evening event.
Entry to the event is by way of a paid registration fee. Fibrecraft workshops will incur an additional fee.”
